The end of the school year is coming! What needs to be done to finish out your school year? Read below for helpful tips.

Cancel therapy sessions NOW to get paperwork ready for May/June IEPs.
Prepare to write end of the year school therapy progress notes NOW. If you have your data ready, this will be a snap.
Look at your school speech therapy caseload and see if there are any students who can be dismissed. If you do this now, you will be saving yourself a lot of time next year.
Remember school state testing is just around the corner for many of your schools. Use that time to catch up because you can’t see students during testing.
Does your school schedule field trips toward the end of the year? Look at your school’s calendar a month in advance. If you plan ahead and you will find yourself some spare time here and there to complete assessments and paperwork.
School class parties happen at this time of year, too. So, you can use this time to work on end of the year tasks. Once again, remember to check your school’s schedule so you can plan ahead to use that time effectively!

You did it! Give yourself a pat on the back! Finally, you made it through your first school year. As a result of your hard work, it will be much easier next year.
*For those of you outside the profession of speech-language pathology, a CF is a Clinical Fellow. Our profession requires one year of supervision beyond the Master’s degree (really!). Upon completion, the Clinical Fellow is eligible for the Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) issued by ASHA (the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association).
